Another little art history lesson from One of Nine...

Here's the Michelangelo original, in which the 'finger of the paternal right hand' (from the hymn Veni Creator Spiritus) gives life to Adam:

And here's Rich Terrell's take, in which God gives the finger to BO:

(Electoral) college pranks

AMAC, the Association of Mature American Citizens—a conservative alternative to AARP—has a post re: the attempt to recall Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker on Tuesday, June 5th:

...In only the 3rd time in our nation’s history, a sitting governor has been the focus of a recall election. Millions of dollars in union and democrat funds have zeroed in on the Governor to throw him out of office. Thousands of out of state workers have been brought in by democrat supporters to gather signatures and register new voters.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz said: “The Wisconsin recall race is a “dry run” for November”...

So this is a big deal.

Interestingly, an organization called the Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama, based in (of all places) Sacramento, has put this PowerPoint up:

EXPOSED: WI Democrats' Plan to Smear Conservative & Gov. Walker!

According to the Campaign to Defeat Obama,

This election is critically important.  If Gov. Walker loses, he will not only be ousted, but his Republican Lieutenant Governor could be ousted.  And on top of that 4 Republican State Senators are subject to RECALL and if we lose 2 of those races, then Republicans lose control of the State Senate and the Left can completely block Gov. Walker's agenda.
But, even more than that - if the RECALL succeeds and Gov. Walker is removed from office, it will be a huge boost to Barack Obama's efforts to steal away Wisconsin's 10 Electoral Votes in the November presidential election.
Now isn't that fascinating?

But as for the Campaign to Defeat Obama being based in (of all places—did I say that already?) Sacramento, here's some more news you can use...Allahpundit writes in a Hot Air post entitled, "Oh my: Obama now below 50% against Romney — in California":

Even in the bluest of blue states, he’s now treading water at 48 percent, still comfortably ahead of Romney but unable to grab a majority even in Cali. Big deal or no? Banish the thought from your mind that Romney has a chance of winning there. He doesn’t — although don’t hold me to that if we get another three or four jobs reports that look like today’s. No, the potential significance of this and the reason why there’s some buzz about it among righties on Twitter is that it’s circumstantial evidence that The One might be starting to collapse nationally. That’s John Ellis’s point about the Wisconsin recall, after all: If Walker wins big there, then it may be a sign that a decisive national shift is already under way.

Pay attention, everybody. The fun is just beginning.

A plethora of parodies

In case you haven't heard about “Julia,” "and if you haven’t seen her, she’s a colorful cartoon character invented by the Obama campaign to help spread the message of how women will “benefit” under the president’s policies"...and, of course, suffer endless life vicissitudes under a Mittens administration.

No, really. You have to see it to appreciate its godawfulness (click on the image):

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Maybe.

We here at Redneck Mansion, however, maintain that you know an idea has truly been an epic flop when it spawns a seemingly infinite number of spoofs. Some are, well, staid, not to say boring, like this one at Heritage (click on the image):

And some are inspired lunacy...enjoy this version from Iowahawk (click on the image):

No shirt, no shoes, no problem?

Remember this?

Dingy Harry might have had a problem with "smelly tourists" in the Capitol, but the White House doesn't seem to have a problem with tourists who have no shirt,  no shoes, not even a birth certificate, as long as their parents sign them in:

The White House Visitors Office requires that an unborn child—still residing in utero—must be counted as a full human being when its parents register for a White House tour, according to documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon...

..."It is ironic that President Obama's staff recognizes the existence of unborn babies for purposes of providing security within the White House -- yet, there is no indication that President Obama has any problem with the fact that throughout the District of Columbia, abortion is now legal for any reason up to the moment of birth,” said Douglas Johnson, National Right to Life legislative director...

And what is the case currently in DC may soon be the case here if some NYS legislators get their way. From the NYS Conservative Party:

The following legislative memo was distributed to the Members today:
2012 Legislative Memo in Opposition to Reproductive Health Act
S 2844 - Stewart-Cousins/S 2524 Klein           A 6112- Glick
Purpose: This bill seeks to ensure that abortions are legal throughout all nine months of pregnancy if they are deemed necessary to protect the life or health of the mother. Unfortunately, health has been defined by Courts to mean social, economic and emotional distress factors thereby allowing an abortion until birth for any reason.
Party Position: New York State already has the most permissive abortion laws in the United States of America, but this proposal seeks to expand the "right" to an abortion to the moments just before the birth of a precious child. Current NYS law allows an abortion through 24 weeks; however, if the life of the Mother is at risk, an exception could be made to perform an abortion.   Unfortunately, because of flawed court decisions, (Roe v Wade), this law is not enforceable, which makes abortion through the third trimester for any reason legal in New York.
This bill, however, would allow post-viability abortions in a clinic on an outpatient basis, clinics that are to all intents and purposes unregulated by public health authorities.
This bill also states, "the state shall not discriminate" against the fundamental right to abortion in the "provision of benefits, facilities, services or information", thereby requiring religious organizations to go against their fundamental first amendment rights or close down.
This bill may force successful programs that favor childbirth over abortion to close in order to prevent discrimination lawsuits.
This bill also restricts any reasonable regulations that have been allowed by the US Supreme Court, for example, parental notification, counseling prior to an abortion and restricting taxpayer monies to be used. Many of these reasonable regulations have been adopted by more than 32 states.
Another egregious proposal in this bill allows any health care practitioner to perform abortions. This proposal endangers the life of the mother and possibly the ability to carry a child to full term in the future.
The bill also lifts the age restrictions to purchase the "morning-after pill" at neighborhood drug stores and would allow girls as young as 11 to purchase the pill without the knowledge of their parents.
The NYS Conservative Party is strongly opposed to this bill that expands a woman's ability to have an abortion. Modern society has provided many ways to prevent becoming pregnant; expanding abortion laws only continues to denigrate precious life.
One of the co-sponsors of A 6112 is our own Barbara Lifton.
No, no, Babette...can't you understand? Even your feckless leader BHO thinks that not-yet-born visitors to his home in DC are well, you know, human.

Straight from the horse's...patootie

Via The Lonely Conservative:

A new fight has developed in the American West over water, where strategies to use the liquid gold routinely are litigated and challenged. But in one case, according to a legal team, the result literally could kill the historic town of Tombstone, Ariz.

The Goldwater Institute today told WND it has filed a motion for a preliminary injunction that would allow town officials to go into the Huachuca Mountains to repair the collection system – pools, pipes and related equipment – that provide the town with much-needed water in the desert climate.

The federal government has said no....
... instead of allowing repairs as has happened in the past, “federal bureaucrats are refusing to allow Tombstone to unearth its springs and restore its waterlines unless [city officials] jump through a lengthy permitting process that will require the city to use horses and hand tools to remove boulders the size of Volkswagens”...
Got that?  Horses and hand tools.  The feds must have consulted with the Town of Dryden and established a CEA...
[Nick Dranias, head of the Joseph and Dorothy Donnelly Moller Center for Constitutional Government at the Goldwater institute] said there is evidence that the Forest Service under Barack Obama’s leadership is adopting a comprehensive plan “to clear federal lands of any private or non-federal uses.”
Ranchers in the West, according to Dranias, have been told to give up their various access and water rights, ski resorts have faced problems with access to federal lands and Indian tribes have been dealt the same blow...
Some folks want to return to the mid-nineteenth century, the error era of their idol—you know, this guy:
We really have got to get them (all of them, including the Congressional Progressive Caucus) out of office this fall.

Too good to check

This ranks right up there with the Joe Biden Gaffe-O-Matic.  Via RedState...David Axelrod just endorsed Mitt Romney on Fox News, wait...

It was so good they had to repeat it.  And I'm gonna repeat it:

The choice in this election is between an economy that produces a growing middle class and that gives people a chance to get ahead and their kids a chance to get ahead and an economy that continues down the road we’re on.

Tres amigos?

Talk about media bias.  This cartoon doesn't get it quite right:

He's not even a successful bully.

For instance, here's one take from the lamestream media:  "Obama, Calderon, Harper talk trade, energy" (Associated Press)

The fluff from AP regarding Harper and the Keystone XL pipeline:

...Harper has voiced disappointment with Obama's decision. He also visited China in February to explore alternatives. Canada has the world's third-largest oil reserves — more than 170 billion barrels — after Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, and daily production of 1.5 million barrels from the oil sands is expected to rise to 3.7 million by 2025...

That's basically all.

Check out the story at the Sun News, a Canadian news site:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Even if President Barack Obama approved the controversial Keystone XL pipeline tomorrow, at least some Canadian oil would still flow to Asia, according to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
In a public one-on-one interview here with Jane Harman, head of the Wilson Centre think-tank, Harper said Obama's rejection of the controversial pipeline -- even temporarily -- stressed Canada's need to find other buyers for oilsands crude.
And that wouldn't change even if the president's mind did.
"Look, the very fact that a 'no' could even be said underscores to our country that we must diversify our energy export markets," Harper told Harman in front of a live audience of businesspeople, scholars, diplomats, and journalists.
"We cannot be, as a country, in a situation where our one and, in many cases, only energy partner could say no to our energy products. We just cannot be in that position"...
Sounds a little different, yes?

Stephen Harper for President? No, wait...never mind...

Open Mic Night at the Sidetrack Tap

Здравствуйте, товарищи

That's Russian President Dmitri Medvedev the President of the United States is speaking to, and Dmitri promised to share the message with, you know, Vlad.  Kissy, kissy, are we besties?

Even Chris Stirewalt, digital politics editor for Fox News, reported the episode thusly:
...Conservatives are aghast at what Obama told outgoing Russian President Dmitri Medvedev in a message for his boss/successor Vladimir Putin. Obama ratified the central campaign theme of his likely opponent, Mitt Romney, when he said that he would be in a better position to make concessions on American missile defense after the election.
And while the president certainly added ammo to Romney’s campaign pitch, which adds up to a warning about “Obama unrestrained,” the incumbent was also giving the pocket Putin a crude shorthand for the Obama 2012 message: it will work better next time....
Jim Rogers, the investor, is always telling us we should be learning Chinese. He may be right, but maybe brushing up on our Shakespeare Chekhov might not be such a bad idea, either.
Read the rest of Stirewalt's column for his take on "Obama Piling Up Promises for Second Term."  We knew this was coming, though.

[President Obama] said ‘last election,’ not next election, last election. I'm done and do what I want.”
